Luxury Car Rentals Chicago and Marina City
The Chicago skyline is peppered with a handful of easily distinguishable buildings. Marina City is, without a doubt, one of Chicago's most unique building structures. Completed in 1964, the complex consists of two pipe-like structures located on three acres of land in the heart of Chicago's Loop. Their unique shape allows for the towers to be easily picked out in the skyline, glimmering like a pair of fresh corn cobs. Offices, shops, a theater and restaurants are currently housed inside this iconic Chicago structure, providing luxury car rental customers with and endless list of attractions and entertainment. Marina City is proud to be an important part of Chicago's architectural and economic history, so why not stop by and learn some city history during your upcoming Chicago Exotic Car Rentals vacation? One-Of-A-Kind Design
Designed by architect Bertrand Goldberg, Marina City was the first urban post-war residential complex constructed in the United States. It is widely credited with beginning the residential renaissance of many American inner cities. Equipped with a mix of residential apartments and offices, Marina City is also widely accepted as the primary model for urban development in the U.S. Their basic design has been widely copied throughout downtown Chicago and other major American cities. The basic design looks a little like this: each residential tower has an identical 61 floor height. Luxury car rental customers will find the first 19 floors equipped with more than 896 spiral ramp parking spaces. The 20th floor is dedicated to a laundry room while floors 21 through 60 feature more than 450 private apartments. The 61st floor is an open air roof deck, providing luxury car rental customers with dazzling 360 views of the surrounding cityscape. Marina City apartments are unique in having almost no interior right angles. Circular hallways surround the elevator and rooms and apartments are shaped like triangular wedges. Luxury car rental customers may also be interested to learn that all 450 apartments in Marina City are electric, a function of the age in which they were constructed. Each apartment comes with individual water heaters, stoves and heating and cooling units. Marina City is also known for the high speed of its elevators. It jakes just 35 seconds to travel from the lower level lobby to the 61st roof-top deck.
From Boats to Bowling: Marina City has it All
Today Marina City houses a number of exciting amenities including the House of Blues concert hall and hotel. Luxury car rental customers can also test out their bowling know-how at 10 Pin. Other exciting commercial residents include a Crunch health club, a Chase Bank and the restaurants Bin 36 and Smith & Wollensky. Visible lighting was recently installed on the tops of the towers as well, lighting up the sky for miles around. Marina City is also known for its convenient onsite pleasure craft marina, which provides luxury car rental customers with direct access to the waterways of the Midwest. Views from the Marina City towers include divisions of the Chicago River, the Merchandise Mart, the Sears Tower and the Gold Coast neighborhood. Unfortunately, many of these views will be lost due to new construction in the immediate future. Site preparation began early in 2006 on a high-rise office building west of Marina City at north LaSalle Street and the Chicago River. A mid-rise hotel and high-rise office building are also planned for the northwest side of the towers.
The Marina City towers are two of Chicago's most unique building structures. Recognized for their innovativeness in 1965 by the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Marina City is now one of Chicago's most popular structural attractions. Luxury car rental customers are encouraged to visit the building at 300 North State Street in Chicago, Illinois.
