Facts
Before taking your Chicago car rental to see the Chicago Bears, read up on some interesting facts about this American football team. Currently members of the Northern Division of the National Football Conference in the NFL, the Chicago Bears have won 9 American Football championships in the past. This includes 8 NFL Championships and Super Bowl XX. The Chicago Bear's winnings are trailing only the Green Bay Packers who have 12. The Bears also have the most enshrines in the Pro Football hall of Fame with 26 members! Founded in Decatur, Illinois in 1919, the team moved to Chicago in 1921. From 1971 to present, the Chicago Bears have played home games in the Soldier Field in Chicago located next to Lake Michigan.
Team Logo
The Chicago Bears have had a few official logos in the past. The team's first logo was a black bear on top of a football which lasted from the early 1950's to 1962. By 1962, the Bear's trademark "C" logo was introduced. The reason for this change was because teams were starting to add their logos on their helmets and the black bear logo was too complicated. By 1974, the Chicago Bears kept their same white "C" logo but changed the color from white to orange with a white trim. Although other logos have been experimented with since 1974, the team has decided that there is nothing better than their trademark wishbone "C" logo!
Mascots
Once your arrive to the Soldier Field stadium in your Chicago car rental, you may find yourself being greeted by Staley Da Bear, the team's official mascot since 2003! Did you know that the Chicago Bears have had 2 unofficial mascots ("Rocky" and "Bearman") in the past? Rocky was a man who donned a "1" Bears jersey while carrying a megaphone and starting chants all over the Soldier Field during the 1970's to early 90's. Bearman on the other hand has played by a season-ticket holder named Don Wachter. In 1995, he decided that he could assist the team by cheerleading. He would run across the field with a large Bears flag during the player introductions and after each team score!
Some Great Records
Before taking Chicago car rental to see these talented football players, here are some records that have been set by some of the Bear's legendary players. Did you know that Bill George and Doug Buffone hold the record for the most seasons in a Bears uniform with 14? Another great record was set by kicker Kevin Butler. He holds the club record for scoring the most points in his 10 year Bear career - a total of 1116 points! Some records are not the greatest. In 1940, the Chicago Bears held the record for the biggest defeat in a NFL game of 73-0 victory over the Washington Redskins. However, the team's biggest victory was a 61-7 against the Green Bay Packers!
